Discogs Importer FAQ

Answers for record stores using Discogs Importer to create Shopify products from Discogs release data.

Where do imported products appear?

Products are created in your Shopify Products area. Discogs Importer shows a success message after creation with buttons to view the new product, import another record, or open Shopify Products.

What is the difference between draft and active?

Draft products are created for review before publishing. Active products are published immediately, so use active only when condition, price, quantity, images, and tags are ready.

Which plan includes Sync?

Basic includes one-record importing. Pro adds Stocktake and optional Discogs Marketplace Sync. Premium includes Pro features and adds higher-volume bulk import workflows.

Do I need a Discogs account?

You can search public Discogs release data without connecting your own Discogs seller account. You only need to connect a Discogs API token if you want Discogs Importer to use optional Marketplace Sync tools.

What does Discogs Marketplace Sync do?

Sync is opt-in. When connected and enabled, Discogs Importer can help link Shopify products with Discogs Marketplace listings, create Discogs listings from Shopify imports, and keep selected inventory workflows aligned depending on the settings you choose.

Why does Shopify ask for extra permissions?

Discogs Importer needs product permissions to create products and metafields. Inventory and location permissions are needed when the app sets stock quantity or runs optional Sync workflows involving stock levels.

Can I control product type, vendor, and tags?

Yes. Use Import defaults to set common values for new imports. On the Import screen, you can also change product type, vendor, and extra Shopify tags for a single record before creating the product.

Does Discogs Importer change my Discogs store automatically?

Not unless you connect Discogs and turn Sync on. Shopify product creation still works when Sync is off, and Discogs Marketplace writes are controlled by the settings on the Sync tab.

Can you help me set up my catalogue workflow?

Yes. If you need help getting your catalogue workflow ready, I can help configure Discogs Importer, map your current listing process, set sensible import defaults, and walk through your first Shopify product imports with you.

Who should I contact for help?

Use the Feedback button inside Discogs Importer, or email craig@hiveme.ai.
